Silvana Demarco

Born in Atina in 1960, Silvana Demarco stands out from many in the Italian Scottish community. Unlike those whose families have been in Scotland for generations, Silvana only recently moved to Glasgow after marrying Raymond, a third-generation Italian Scot from the Comino Valley. Silvana is a native speaker of Italian with an impressive command of several languages. She learned English after her marriage to Raymond, French from her time working as a waiter in Paris, and more recently, Turkish, fuelled by her love for Turkish TV dramas. she feels deeply integrated into Scottish society, though her heart and soul remain firmly Italian. She regularly participates in events organised by Glasgow’s Italian community, like sports games and picnics.
