Born in 1953, Philip Contini is a third-generation Italian Scot whose Italian heritage is deeply rooted on both sides of his family. His father, Carlo Contini, brought Neapolitan lineage, while his mother, Olivia Crolla, and her family were from the Comino Valley, specifically Fontitune, a small hamlet of Picinisco. Philip proudly identifies as an Italian Scot, embracing his Italian roots while equally asserting his Scottish and British identity. He highlights his connections with the Royal Family, whom he’s met multiple times through his business. He truly embodies the best of both worlds in both his personal and professional life. Food exemplifies this duality; he eats and sells Italian cuisine, but he admits the Scottish approach to life, especially bureaucracy, suits him better. His Italian Scot identity is further underscored by the honorary titles he has received from both nations for his professional merits: Cavaliere nell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana from Italy and National President of the Royal Warrant Holders Association for 2024-25 in the United Kingdom.
