Born in Picinisco in 1950, Adriano De Marco’s life journey mirrors that of many post-WWII Italian immigrants to the United Kingdom. At age of 14, he moved with his family, first settling in Newport, Wales, before making their permanent home in Glasgow. Adriano’s career, much like many Italian immigrants in Scotland, remained closely tied to the food industry, working as a supplier of cooking equipment. Today, Adriano maintains a strong bond with his roots and the village of Picinisco, where he owns a house and spends every summer with his family. He affectionately refers to Picinisco as ‘home’, just as he does with Glasgow, highlighting his deep connection to both places. His dedication to his heritage is evident in his recent service as President of COMITES of Scotland and Northern Ireland, where he represented the Italian community in both countries.
